(amzn.to * With our 2 trucks 44 gallon and gas cans on hand we have 125 gallons of gas * The generator can run for 20 days on full output (1 gallon = 4 hours of 1300 watt- 1850 watt output). This is needed for the 1500 watt heater in the winter. * If the output is 400 watts or less the generator will run 26 hours on 1 gallon * Blitz 11010 5 Gallon Steel Gas Can (amzn.to * Reliance Controls THP103 AmWatt Generator Appliance Wattage/Amps Load Tester (amzn.to * OnGuard 5018HD Beast Chain Bicycle Lock (160cm x 11mm) to lock up the generator when used outside. (amzn.to *Wireless motion sensor and audio mic and speaker next to the generator outside. (amzn.to * If we still have gas but no power I have rigged an inline plug that I can hook up to the generator to have the blower motor still engage. Here’s my problem. You’re losing alot with such long lines (resistance) and in a real life scenario, EVERYONE and your grandmother, and your friend’s grandmothers are going to be sitting in line for gasoline IF IT’S EVEN AVAILABLE. I would invest in a very good solar powered chrgd generator, seriously. The gas is fine in theory, but when the SHTF, you are not going to want to rely on gasoline. It’s coming too.

Backfeeding Can Be Dangerous if done improperly! Done properly it will pass code and is safe. If you do it without isolating the grid from your generator by turning off the Main Breaker or Breakers in your panel – you could kill or injure people working on the power lines outside of your home. Once the 220V from your generator hits the nearest transformer it gets “transformed” to higher voltages and ZZZZZAAAAAPPPP! some poor sucker doesn’t get to go home to his family that night.

@OUtsidethenine4eva Can’t argue with you on that! Any supplies that will feed you, keep you warm or create energy for you would be an asset!

  4. OUtsidethenine4eva says:

@catexan either way, vegetable oil and olive oil are two of the most valuable things you can stock up on, IMO

@markelliotkorn. You are incorrect. Adding a second generator wired in PARALLEL doubles the amperage AND WATTAGE. Remember Volts x Amps = Watts. Increase te amos on a 120v circuit, you naturally increase the wattage.

I have two Hondas and one big Subaru genny for the house. Anybody that tries to steal my generator during a “disaster” is getting a shit load of bullets first from my many assault weapons and 4 sons!

    @Mrinfoone backfeeding is dangerous

I have the same generator can you please tell me how often the timing belt needs to be replaced? I would really appreciate it!

  8. markelliotkorn says:

If you add a second generator you do not get 4000; you simply increase the amperage. Why not just get a transfer switch installed in place of your stock circuit breaker? With all the things you purchased – the transfer switch will have load meter also.

listen it easier and simpler if you just plug an 6 to 8000 invertor or generator into any house outlet or the power grid near your electric meter and you have power all around …, try it. All the wires are not needed and you can use them for something else. Reasoning being there will no power and it will work .Plus even with normal power you are sub-supply the extra power into your power grid and lower your electric bill..tooo.

All power will attract unwanted attention. You have a solar setup? I am sure your neighbors will take note. You have a wind turbine? People will see it. Your lights on when everyone else is in the dark? You might as well build a soundproof box for your generator.

  13. coldfire2227 says:

See, the problem is with all gas generators is that they all make noise. In a shtf situation you want to be incognito and as quiet as possible. When choosing a alternate electrical powersource you have to go with either a hydro, solar, or wind turbine generator or your going to attract unwanted attention. They make little to no noise at all. Even if you plan to run the gas generator indoors the next thing your going to deal with is the carbon monoxide produced from the generator.

you should maybe think about getting solar panels its way better kuz if something were to happen you will run out of gas Most of my house is powered by solar

  15. dbdisok says:

You should be careful with the exhaust fumes so close to your doors and windows.

  16. jmmurdy says:

What kind of lock was that on the chain???

  17. starkilla21 says:

ok so a generator can only work for one month and then u have to buy a new one?

  18. surfnfx says:

You have a magnet for people to come rob / kill you for your food and fuel!
Sorry but think this thru better.

  19. RL968 says:

i hate this system, you would be better off with solar panels, and also, do you have a bug-out location?

@OUtsidethenine4eva YOU CANNOT USE STRAIGHT VEGETABLE OIL IN A DIESEL ENGINE! It has to be processed to be usable in a diesel engine. That is why they call it bio-diesel, not vegetable oil!
    catexan 2 months ago

i don`t want to upset you , but you can run any diesel engine on veg oil , ive been running my landrover on it for about 3 years and other than swapping the fuel filter more opften, it runs fine just remeber in winter to add 50% diesel
